The Roma Road redevelopment encompasses a vast 13-hectare brownfield site, distinguished by its prime location and the presence of multistorey and warehousing structures. This large-scale project was designated as "Shovel Ready" by the New Zealand government, highlighting its significance and the urgency of its redevelopment.

Contractor Responsibilities
The scope of Nikau’s responsibilities included:

Class A and B Asbestos Removal: Comprehensive removal of asbestos-containing materials, following stringent safety and regulatory standards.

Recycling of Steel: Successful recycling of over 2,000 tonnes of steel, contributing to sustainable waste management and resource recovery.

Internal Strip-Out of Commercial Spaces: Detailed dismantling and removal of internal structures within commercial buildings.

Concrete Crushing: Processing of over 30,000 cubic meters of concrete for reuse and recycling.
